Relaxation can have many benefits for those who live with pain. Relaxation exercises can reduce the feelings of stress so you feel more in control of your pain, reduce pain by decreasing muscle tension, and release endorphins (our natural pain-killers) to reduce pain.
There are many different types of relaxation exercises and so you might like to try a number of different types to find the ones that best suit you.
While you might feel some immediate benefit from a relaxation exercise, the best effects are seen when these are practiced every day (or even better several times a day) for at least 6-8 weeks.
